In-person Workshops

Quiet heart journey workshops are a great way for groups, leadership teams and organizations to get a taste of the spiritual leadership formation journey and/or do a deep dive on specific topics. Each workshop is customized and tailored to meet your group’s specific needs as either a stand-alone session, or a combined series over time.

Workshop Inquiry

Quiet Heart intro

Half-Day Workshop

An introduction to the importance and practice of spiritual and emotional health as a leader, helping participants to see that “it is who you are, not what you do, that will have the biggest impact on the people around you.”

Participants will:

  • Study Jesus as a model for spiritual & emotional health.

  • Develop a deeper awareness of how often our anxious, driven hearts sabotage relationships, ministry efforts, and our awareness of God’s presence.

  • Explore healthy rhythms in ministry, blueprints for engaging one’s heart, and how to set a healthy spiritual culture and rhythms as a team and church community.

Teaching sections will be followed by practical tools for reflection.

For teams, reflection on team dynamics and anxiety patterns can be included.

Spiritual formation

Half-Day Workshop

A reflective, experiential exploration of spiritual disciplines designed to deepen your understanding of spiritual formation and equip participants with practical rhythms for cultivating a transformative, everyday faith.

Participants will:

  • Develop an awareness of how our daily habits keep us distracted from noticing God, who gets to influence us (through what we consume), and what life-giving practices we might be missing.

  • Explore new and old spiritual disciplines, such as silence, solitude, lectio divina, sabbath, contemplative prayer, to help us become more aware of God’s presence in our everyday lives.

  • Gain personal, practical insight for nurturing spiritual growth beyond the workshop.

Teaching sections will be followed by practical tools for reflection.

Self-awareness

Half-Day Workshop

An introduction to Bowen Family Systems Theory and Capable Life tools to help us notice anxiety in ourselves, others, and our relationships so we can lead from a well-sorted heart and a non-anxious presence.

Participants will:

  • Better understand and identify their anxieties - the many moments in our everyday life when we tense up and get reactive, our thoughts start spinning, and we lose sight of God’s presence.

  • Increase awareness of their anxiety triggers and responses, as well as those in others.

  • Understand burnout, its stages, symptoms, and ways to prevent it early.

Teaching sections will be followed by practical tools for reflection.

story

Half-Day Workshop

Drawing from the Allender Center’s formative work on story as a tool for healing and restoration, participants step into their own life stories to better understand the story God is trying to reveal in us and those we love and serve.

Participants will:

  • Explore the concept of First Formation and how our past shapes who we are and how we see the world today.

  • Learn to look at their life story through the lens of Jesus’ story.

  • Discover new insights from their past that can inform how God will use them redemptively in the future.

Teaching sections will be followed by practical tools for reflection.
